There were many things I liked about Zepps Last Stand. Madeline Blais wrote the profile with vivid descriptions which gave the reader an exact idea about just what time of old man Zepp was. Both the physical description and the description of his personality painted a perfect image for the reader that allowed for a better understanding of the character.
Blais's use of quotes also allowed a better understanding of Zepp. When she said, "And the reason I'm here at my advanced age-…" gave the reader an idea of just how determined Zepp was without actually flat out saying it.
Blais also organized this work well which made it easier to understand because of her use of chronological order. I feel that the combined efforts of Blais with organization, description and quotation is what made this profile interesting to the audience.
I like how you mentioned that Zepp brought up his determination because it is so clear that a man at his age that is still fighting for what he wants is not afraid to keep at it, and to hear and receive the news he deserves. I did not think that madeleine Blais had to spend much time on his physical description because his age itself can give the reader a sense of the old man. I liked your response!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you that the author definitely showed Zepp's determination for achieving his ultimate goal. For me, for some reason the whole narrative was hard to get into. I kept having to re-read some things to get a better understanding for what I was supposed to be comprehending.
ReplyDeleteThe dialogue is also what kept me interested. I did feel that there was a lot of talk about his age and how old he was, but I didn't mind it. It made his stance on the issue even more impactful. Blais was able to link the stories he shared together in a smooth way.
